The image of Switzerland is firmly anchored in the collective consciousness, and it is largely determined by traditional clichés. The results of a search for the keyword "Switzerland" on social media or relevant image databases blatantly reinforce this statement. Anyone who lives in Switzerland, however, knows the gap between idyllic wishful thinking and sobering reality. In a long-term project, I therefore want to critically examine the postcard imagery of my homeland. I am trying to research and show what Switzerland actually looks like today. To do this, I am photographing the country comprehensively. I am systematically traveling to all 4,062 localities in the 26 cantons and documenting what I see there. In the end, 4,062 images—one for each locality—will form my counter-proposal to the collective image of Switzerland. With this, I can make a well-founded statement about the visual state of the country: This is how it is—c'est comme ça—è così.
