„No Body Was Cast for This“ is an ongoing series that started around 2022/2023 and has been made in Istanbul, Chiang Mai, Bangkok, New York, Leipzig,Munich, Prague, Koh Chang, Arizona etc.. Even though the photographs were taken in very different places, I began to notice that they seemed to belong to the same strange world. Public space started to feel less like everyday reality and more like a theatre stage: a place of entrances, pauses, gestures and silent tension.
What draws me to these moments is the feeling that something is slightly off. People appear as if they have stepped into a scene without fully knowing their role. Birds, statues, costumes, fragments of bodies and decorative backgrounds become as important as the figures themselves. I am drawn to these unstable scenes because they suggest that public space is never neutral. It is full of performance, tension and strange little accidents of meaning. The surreal element in the work does not come from fiction, but from the way reality sometimes arranges itself with an eerie precision.
The series is not finished yet. I see it as an open structure that keeps expanding as I move through different cities and continue to find these moments where the world briefly looks staged, fragile and hard to explain.
