Point Peele National Park Portfolio

This portfolio represents a selection of photographs taken at Point Pelee in southern Ontario. Point Pelee's history parallels that of the Toronto Islands in that it was once a vibrant community before the land was purchased in the 1970s to develop a national park. Since then, Parks Canada has been carefully nurturing the land back to its original Carolinian forest, featuring large tracts of open savannah habitat and wetlands, making room for indigenous species to thrive. The land has been naturalized, and Point Pelee is now a world-renowned national park recognized for birding and butterflies. Over the years, I have observed the changes that have taken place in the park, and documented the overlapping layers of human and natural histories.
