It's easy to make a flower look beautiful – there is no denying the visual appeal of new blooms. But when the desert air has zapped the last dew from these spindly plants, they blossom in unexpected ways. Muted colors and interesting textures surround the delicate bones of a life that is over. I try to photograph specimens who's poetry has become more obvious posthumously, and present them in a way that could be anywhere, from your back yard to a distant planet.
