I want to compare the flow of a river, with the flow of human life. I find many similarities between a stream of water and a stream of life. And as a conclusion think about why it the rivers are so soul easing/relaxing.
A river is born at the source. Begin's it's life at this point and creates it's own way further on.
Just as the human life, the flow is influence by the environment. The river might face obstacles such as pieces of land, tree's or rocks. I compare these to the problems one might face in life. If the river holds on and has enough strenght. It will carve it's path slowly over time. So eventually, the flow will go on.
A river can be assisted sometimes, getting a little extra water supplies from the rain. This can be seen as a friend that helps you when you are in need.
Another way for a river to get 'help' surviging, is by side streams. This river that I have chosen as my playground also has many little side streams that come join the big Hoegne at one time or the other. I found it very plesant to wander off upwards in the forests, look for a small stream that goes downwards, follow it and end up with the big stream. I see , extra influences, advice we would call it.
The color of the river can vary. If the water is in the shade, most likely to be seen at dawn or dusk the color will be different then in broad day light. This brings along a different mood. Again you can compare this with ourselves. We change mood , aka color often aswell. Most of the times even depending on the weather.
I already compared a riversource with childbirth. The same can be said for it's mouth (the place where the river ends up in the land). This place I consider the burial spot of the river.
Perhaps the most striking resemblance is the water itself. We humans are made almost entirely out of water. Listening to other water takes away thoughts. It makes you forget about your own flow of life. And I think this is why it's relaxing.
