In Asia the helmet is like a fetish and sometimes it becomes difficult to separate yourself from it.
Indeed, whenever asians get off their bikes or scooters, they show unexpected behavior.
They don't separate from their helmet, but, rather, they keep it well fastened on their heads, as though it could reassure them.
From a quite long time, I wander around the cities of the Eastern Countries with my camera. I often stumbled across in everyday life situations, in which people wore helmets while there was no a real need: loading on a truck a bale of hay in Bali, watching a horses's race in Sumba or just sitting during a concert in Yangon, to make some examples.
From the first glimpse of this bizarre way of being, I decided to create a project that would tell to the world, a different use of an object by us only considered as synonymous with safety.
The "Helmets" project was born in 2014 and counts a huge quantity of images from which I selected some representative shots.
