Through the window

This project was more than impromptu, I didn't realize I was going to be able to make a series out of these images until I got the film back. March 2016 I visited Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to do photography work for a non-profit called Make Your Mark. I shot all their work on digital, but shot some personal work on film with my Mamiya 7. This particular series is showing some of the street scenes from driving around Addis Ababa in our transport van. Walking around the streets of Addis with a camera, can sometime be dangerous. While the city is fairly safe for travelers, walking around with a camera draws a lot of attention. This made it difficult for me to capture some of the photos I was wanting to, but I was fairly pleased with the results of photographing from a moving van. It did cause some blur, but I don't believe all images have to be perfectly sharp, it adds more drama and sincerity to the photos when they're not perfect. As I said, I used my Mamiya 7 with Kodak Tri-X 400. Some of the shots I believe were pushed 2 stops in development. The developing and scanning was done by Indie Film Lab.
