Ahlein / Welcome

Foreigners in Lebanon are not simply passing through; a large number of them are here, and they’re here to stay. They lead “normal” lives - lives Lebanese know little about, or that they sometimes do not want to know about. Yes, these “strangers” are quite like us: They eat out on weekends, they drink, they run, they pray. They have their own homes, their places of worship, their hairdressers, and their playgrounds. What is striking is that these individuals, spaces, and places are far from being isolated or inaccessible. They surround us. What separates us from them is but a thin wall or telling smile. By simply opening our eyes, or subtly pushing a door, we can discover a different and enriching reality. Welcome. “Ahlein”.
