Since 2011, I have visited more than 20 locations in Italy, including Catania, Taranto, and Casteggio. My intent was to document, through photography, each site’s unique atmosphere, from the ardent people to the tranquil landscapes. Each day I was greeted by exciting new subjects, their beauty and complexity almost anticipating the sound of my shutter. The natural landscapes of Italy overwhelmed each of my senses, as did the dynamic personalities of the people. The landscapes spoke to me in their universal language, while the language barriers with the locals were more difficult to overcome. I found that when I was able to communicate with them every interaction held its own significance. As time pushes on the landscapes and people I have seen will certainly change and I’m left with only my photographs as clear evidence of my experience.
