Anonym

Anonym - the German word for Anonymous, is a project that explores the restriction of shooting street photography in countries where strict laws for sharing images of individuals taken in a public space are still in existence. Instead of being hindered by this restriction, it is embraced to creatively find various ways in which to obscure a subject’s identity while trying to convey the original emotion present at the time of the image’s creation. Perhaps the idea behind the this project is deeply rooted in bringing awareness to the oxymoron of trying to maintain privacy in a public place. In this day and age where everyone is a photographer, a videographer, a content creator, it’s hard to escape the lens whether it be from simply a security standpoint to the average person documenting their lives with strangers surrounding them. Even making a conscious decision to stay off the grid, the expectancy of staying anonymous is almost impossible. We are as much at the mercy of technology as we are of the natural curiosity of those around us.
