Which Mediterranean are we in?
Of the contemporary, conscious of the inexorable changes that take place around us and drag our lives and bodies, or belong to an unchanged past, still guided by a childlike look, that of our memory, where the Mediterranean has defined and indestructible boundaries?
We have to choose.
Sometimes we accept to belong to a suspended but disenchanted dimension, we often deny reality to embrace a memory, digging into what we have experienced, as if it were an archive of certainties, to find instead a society composed of individuals without "individuality."
We are part of a world indifferent to the dramas of the "rest of the Mediterranean" and like the scared kids we are still in our memories, we look around, scared by what we do not understand, preferring to embrace the common sense of things but ultimately we can't avoid seeing cynically the defects, limits, ridiculous and inconsistent rituals.
And with time we become indifferent to everything.
Then I choose.
To watch my Mediterranean.
And to be alienated.
"Alien Mediterranean" is a work carried out along the Mediterranean coast in several seaside resorts in Italy.
