The pictures you are seeing are not part of a reportage in a distant country. The pictures you are seeing are nothing more than an interpretation of a path.
It ‘s true a big ship so has managed to touch the tip of many lands, full of life and stories to tell. The ship has traveled hundreds and hundreds of miles, stopping from time to time in big cities all different; came close Civitavecchia, shook hands in Genoa, Barcelona and Casablanca embraced, kissed Funchal, Tenerife and finally Malaga.
I could photograph every place visited, but I preferred not to do so because it was virtually impossible to live in those places with so little time available, each stop lasted a few hours in fact, four to eight times. So I decided to switch roles.
I preferred to look exclusively with my own eyes what they were offering me those many lands I visited. And I preferred to live through the eyes of a room (a small and simple smartphone) what was going on inside that big ship.
I had everything there, at hand, I could see life in all its forms for more than two weeks, I have seen the rebirth of the people, the discovery of the hope and wonder. But I also saw the boredom, the awareness of a great evil that we human beings we carry. I saw the youth and old joined in a great and simple carelessness, but I also saw the exact opposite, the contrast between the calm and fury.
Besides, a ship so impressive could not but be full of life, could not look like a city or a small town, in a ship so the sap of life branched into music, the food and especially water. I then saw, and I lived the achievement of a new and important milestone for people, families and friends who have sailed the seas in immense castle.
And it is there, in there, I created this story.
