Indra Jatra, called Yanya by local people, is the biggest street festival in Nepal. It is also celebrated as an end of the rainy season.
Mythical mask dances are performed in the streets of old Kathmandu along with procession of Kumari, the living goddess of Kathmandu. Wooden chariot are decorated with flowers and robes to carry the living goddess of Kathmandu around the town. The 8 days festival is full of mystic rituals and ceremonies.
