"Beyond Drifting: Imperfectly Known Animals" — book. The basis of the project is presented as an old science book from the 1800s. It represents both the current situation concerning marine organism's intake of plastic particles, beads and fibres, alongside early discoveries when plankton were free from plastic

Beyond Drifting: "Imperfectly Known Animals" — title page. Replicated to be worn and battered, the book is intended to take the viewer back to the past, to imagine a natural world before our reliance on plastic. Original writing and descriptions of the pioneering discoveries made by John Vaughan Thompson run throughout every page.

Installation drawer. The original antique specimen drawer highlights the connection with plastic, showing images of plankton ingesting plastic particles, and research/sketch books spreads. Microscope slides and test tubes show samples of micro plastic particles recovered from oceans around the world, alongside micro beads collected from toothpaste and facial scrubs.

Installation display. Slides of micro plastic particles to view highlight the types of plastic currently ingested by plankton.
