Faces of Darjeeling

At the foothills of the Himalayas in West Bengal, India, lies the city of Darjeeling. It is here that some of the best teas in the world are produced. However, it is also where some of the world’s most impoverished people reside. These photographs offer a glimpse into the lives of those people, who are living a simple, primitive life, reminiscent of a time gone by. They are living this humble life not out of choice, but rather as a result of the place and circumstances into which they were born. Photographing people of different cultures creates bonds and empathy for others, as we realize the common thread of humanity that connects us all.
