These images were made over while slowly watching my father’s health and memory fade.
He passed away in May of 2015.
The time I spent with my father in various hospitals and nursing home rooms allowed us to reform a relationship that had always been quite fragile and distant.
Making these photographs became my way of coping with my father’s degrading health and our changing relationship. To me, these photographs - taken primarily with the camera on my iPhone - are not merely a representation of my father’s sickness and his coming to terms with an impending death - they are also a representation of memory, how it changes, how it re-forms, and how it is lost.
