Big Bar Lake Ranch Revisited

These images are from my second and third series of documentary pinhole photographs investigating the slow deterioration of Big Bar Lake Ranch in the southern Cariboo region of British Columbia, Canada. Taken 3 and 5 years after my first visit, I was interested to discover how the site had changed, if at all, and was particularly keen to capture the unusual inter-play of light and shadow on both colour and black + white film. The third visit was during the winter season, where temperatures can easily reach as low as -30degC, the the sun barely rises above the Marble Mountains on the opposite side of the lake. During these two trips I used a variety of pinhole cameras, from homemade to professional, and Camera 3 and Moon Camera 77 were amongst a small set of homemade cameras that were left exposing between visits, some 16 months.
