This is not what the they promised us.
I grew up seeing Hugo Chavez in the T.V, I still remembered like it was a couple hours ago when he died of Cancer, leaving a orphan revolution . His presidency had the biggest economic boom of Venezuela's history making easy to fund his dream of a more equal, safest and less poor Venezuela, but after three years of his death Venezuela is less equal, more dangerous and poor than ever.
People waits in line for hours to buy subsidized food, the salary of 27$ per month is not enough to buy it in the black market, entire families are starving in the countryside because the shortage of 80% of the food, inflation of 526% only in 2016, every 15 days the prices go higher, this means that most of the people work just enough to buy food, and sometimes is not enough.
Also violence has made Venezuela one of the most dangerous countries to live in, with one of the highest rates of murder of the world, every year 24.000 Venezuelans die because of violence, the fear for death is part of our daily life.
This is not what they promised us, this is not the country of the opportunities and most of the young people feels the same, during 3 months in 2014 young people mostly students clashed against security forces asking for a change, the final outcome was 43 people killed and over 3000 arrested protesters, and no change at all.
My purpose is tell the real story of living in Venezuela, the legacy of one of the most iconic leaders of Latin America, Hugo Chavez, because every day, I'm living his legacy.
