Island Obscura

Island Obscura is an expression of my Bermuda experience. This series of islandscapes explores a fundamental physical connection with Bermuda’s botanical and marine surroundings and recalls different moments in one’s life here. The Island’s elements are beautiful yet raw and one often feels isolated and exposed in the sub-tropical surroundings. The carefully curated scenes, with female models that stand in for myself, reflect the desire to blend in and go less noticed. And yet this show has challenged me as an artist to be more autobiographical, and deepened my connection to Bermuda and giving me a better understanding of the Island’s profound influence.
