(Mama) is an on-going series that explores facets of female identity. The captured images were chosen for their ability to suggest notions of projection and perception -- both of self and by others -- while retaining mystery. The uncertainty implied in that space between pose and gaze helps create honest metaphors to express an elusive, complicated female psychology. Through the process of creating intimate photo studies, I also address my own reckoning with fading female physical power and the re-definition of self-image that comes with age.
