The Tourist

The tourist has created a culture of its own—of difference and sameness, wonder and bewilderment. In our curiosity for understanding the differences of other cultures we develop an identity in the way we travel together—the young in a vibrant band of individuality, the older in packs seeking the comforts of home in a foreign place. What we choose to bring as “baggage” on our personal journeys may, in the end, help us better understand ourselves.
