My parents were married for over 50 years. For 49 of those 50 years, they enjoyed robust health and good fortune. In January 2012, Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The disease progressed rapidly, until his death in May 2013. In April 2012, Mum suffered an unexpected and major stroke and was hospitalised for 5 months. By the time Mum went home in a wheelchair to an adapted house, Dad needed round the clock care and had been permanently admitted to the local Alzheimer's Unit. I began documenting their story in 2012.
