Through a series of self-portraits where food and human face make only one, I try to push aside at the same time content and form of my photos by mixing disorders of the identity and the questioning of the classic portrait. I also wonder about the notion of dependence connected to our food needs and to our consumer society.
Salad, rice, fish, honey or still pastas in bolognese recovering the face, the head tipped over behind creating a visual shortcut which stresses the disappearance of the same face: every photography of the series " Food faces " brings to light the transformation of the subject for which the food and the organic become complementary of a metamorphosis causing a feeling alternating between desire and disgust.
I explore since the beginning of my works the various facets of the photographic portrait. For the realization of " Food faces ", I began myself in front of the objective, only with my trigger, the thought stage before and during the shooting. Although using the frontality and the moved closer centring breast, photos offer a little improper vision of the classic portrait, because of my unusual posture and of the presence of edible material, being so similar to so many tracks of a performance.
