Routine 63

I called this project Routine 63, because when I met Maria, she had been in New York for 63 years and had always lived in the same apartment. She moved from a small town in Portugal to New York, USA, with her husband. She used to tell me stories from her first years in the city and how the couple managed to save in order to buy the building where they were renting a small studio. The apartment was like a time capsule, as well as her daily routines. She went back to her homeland three times, but in the last one she went without a breath. Maria was 90 years old when we met, and she left us at the age of 93. Thank you Maria for letting me into your home. This project was done from 2010 - 2012.
