In the middle of the blue Pacific Ocean theres a beautiful group of islands called the Lau group. I was allowed to visit some of the islands after applying at the council who also help arranging homestay and a captain to transport me between the islands. I stayed at Lakemba, Fulanga and Ogea, all islands with villages leading a simple life living of fishing, basketweaving and woodcarving. I am drawn to this kind of living so different from my own society. I loved the way they were together as a community all depending on each other in this remote place. They are gathering food together, they go to church singing the most beautiful songs, they work together and they are social together. And they are the friendliest people I have ever met.
These portraits are a selection of my project from the stay.
