As an artist working in Central Australia, I am haunted by the intrinsic dichotomies of the place: at once ancient and ephemeral, familiar and strange, black and white. Echoes of a rich and volatile history reside in the landscape and come to life before the lens. Space and flesh inform each other, ancient mythological currents shape our physical surrounds, I find myself drawn into stories that I don’t understand, but somehow now belong to. Identity and belonging are constantly renegotiated in relation to place here. My work reflects on the reciprocal influences between place and person over time.
