I find people to be compelling, and photographing them is endlessly fascinating. To fix the beauty of a human face in time and space is to create a doppelgänger that lives forever apart from, yet related to, photographer and subject. What are they thinking? What are they feeling? I rarely ask my subjects to do anything in particular. I use environment as a third rail to elicit a reading. I hope to capture a meditative sliver of people as they are - settled but not posed, influenced but not affected. The surroundings take the picture as much as I do.
