Some say that a successful portrait artist strives to epitomize their subject, but for me there is much more potential in eliminating this truth altogether and creating a hyper-real version of reality in its place; my models are the vehicles for my work, not the focal point. Utilizing hand-made prosthetics and special effects makeup, I typically spend 5+ hours transforming my subjects into humanoid mutants or alien beings in order to communicate universal truths or critique without being hindered by the specificity of race, age, gender identity, etc. that often accompanies human subjects. In short, I've created a parallel universe to better understand the nuances of our own existence.
