This is an ongoing personal series on the foreign workers who help/helped to build our homes.
It started several years ago when I was grounded for the past 13 months to supervise the building of our little home.
What better way to make myself useful at the same time, than to make portraits of the workers who were putting it together? I was literally, making pictures in my own backyard.
Through photography, I am getting to know a little more about the individuals who are helping to piece our future home together.
I am curious, for instance, to know what brought them to Singapore, and whom they left behind.
Last year, when my neighbors started rebuilding their home, they were kind enough to allow me to invite their workers be photographed for my series.
All the five images submitted here came from 2016.
