This work recounts an eight-month experience teaching Portuguese to Syrian and Palestinian refugees, who are currently living in São Paulo. There are a lot of reflections and stories about the time of living with those foreigners, the symbolic exchanges and the sharing of knowledge with them. All mediated by photography.
This whole experience allowed me to portray and to be portrayed by them, raising several issues related to the role of photography in contemporary society, the portrait and social norms, religion and other subjects.
