Consequences of desire and the secret

Acquiring fame is like winning the lottery. Since humans are (on an innate) status-seeking creatures so the sense drives a human baby to grow into a celebrity. So, becoming a celebrity is probably the most obvious desire to us when it comes from the euphoric state of our mind. And this is why some of us try to be a celebrity. Maybe it is the striving to be immortal against the threat of death. But how it could be and what happen when we cannot achieve it? We lost into the abyss of time and become nobody. We disappear as time does to us. At consequence, only the memory remains that we have created. I have been working as an assistant director in a video production company based in Dhaka. This is how I have met a lot of artist, crews and the people from this industry in many projects. But always I wonder when I think of a background artist. The more I think of them, the more I become curious. According to the film dictionary who works at back in a scene, we call them extra or a background performer. Maybe you could watch them performing as a student, a friend of hero/heroin. Maybe, as a doctor or a flower shopkeeper in a film. But it hurts when you see them in the real world. In the real world, they perform in a very tough story. They come along with the big dream and get back again with the ashes of it. Especially a female performer suffers from the industry and from the society more than everyone. I have tried to portray the scenario through some old photos that almost lost. I have collected them from casting agencies, talked with some female artists who have been working for a long time here. I asked them to know more from the very beginning of our industry. As they have shared the secret behind the story that the industry is always the same. It is not as much as beautiful like people watch on the screen. So nobody can imagine the back of it before they have been here. They may come to join with all their hopes to be famous but after a few days they become hopeless and get back again. And the secret is, most of them come from the outside of the city, divorced and not much educated. After doing some projects they treated bad and get offered to have sex to go up to their dreams. Even, sometimes they even get offered to deal with drugs. They won’t get the remunerations easily and get abused from every corner of their surroundings. Therefore, the wheel of their dream stops at early. They become tired and the dream disappears at heart. They reach the edge of their dreams and realize the bitter truth. At the end, they eliminate the desire and go back to the truth again.
