Zakrzowek

In the 90s an old limestone quarry in the center of Krakow was closed and filled with water. Since then it converted itself in a popular spot among young people who in summer seek relief from heat and clamor of big city. Due to various tragic accidents caused by jumping from the rocks and drowning the city authorities banned the admission and bathing in the lagoon. However, even the fencing of the area does not stop people coming by. In recent years, there were many ideas for new development of Zakrzówek. The idea of creating a new complex of flats around the lake by a private developer was strongly protested and finally in 2015 the city authorities have decided to purchase the land and initiate the construction of organized bathing center.
