Life among the Himba

Last November I had the honour to join an expedition led by conservationists Garth Owen Smith and Dr Margaret Jacobsohn. The Himba is one of the oldest ancestral tribes in Namibia. They haven't changed their way of living in hundreds of years. However, climate change, in the form of a 4 - year drought is chaging this. Both Margaret and Garth bring us hope as they have worked with the Himba to form conservancies. They have proven that working with local communities is essential for the preservation of wildlife and that the tribes can also benefit from conservation efforts.
