Manolo is a man of his time. One day we asked him what his purpose in life was and he said: “To go unnoticed in this world!”. This is the starting point of this series of photographs.
He lives between two worlds daydreaming about his passions: forge and photography. He wants to understand technology. When he sees us taking pictures he comes and asks things like: “But where is the roll? Can I put this picture on my phone? How much does this thing cost?”
Manolo always wakes up at dawn, they say he wakes up the birds. He does his daily stretching, he heads to the garden and works there for the rest of the morning. After lunch he finishes cutting the wild grass and by the afternoon he takes a break and enjoys playing around his metal creations. Because Manolo is an artist, his pieces are unique and difficult to understand. And when the night falls he goes into the garage, he turns on the light and lets his imagination fly. Then they call him for dinner and tomorrow will be another day, just like today.
For people at his age the world moves too fast and it doesn’t allow him to understand how it works. They are always out of place, out of time. That’s why Manolo has his own space, in his own chaos he knows where everthing is and how nature works, he doesn't need anything else. The world stops and the sun moves. There are no worries, no emails, no selfies and no online shopping. But he doesn’t care, Manolo is a man of his time. Maybe he knows what’s important and we don’t.
