Among the stranded immigrants in Libya, the story goes around that they only have to cross the big river between Africa and Europe to get to Italy. One day, along with hundreds of other people, they will be crammed into a rubber boat with the clue going to the light that shines on the horizon. There should be Europe. What these people do not know is that the light is a flame of the big drilling rig Bahr Essalam and is located 100km far off the Libyan coast in the middle of the mediterranean sea. It is impossible to reach it with one of these rubber boats.
I was on board of a search and rescue boat by the non-government organization Sea-Eye offshore Libya, to equip shipwrecked people with life jackets. But it all came to a different than I thought .You find the full story under the following link: http://www.danielkempfseifried.de/the-river-is-an-ocean-sea-eye/
