Photo project "C’mon lets have fun!" shows in a poetic way the mix of Georgian-Caucasian and post-soviet culture in today’s reality.
It also belongs to the part my personal life experience. Since I am mother, I spend most of my free time with my daughter Lile. From the early age Lile had asthmatic bronchitis and it was very important to frequently take her out of the town on a fresh air. This is how we started our family journey in different corners of Georgia.
We spend most of the time of our trips outdoors, in a public area. We stay overnight outside, have fun, go for long walks, have dinner, have lunch, we observe, we assimilate spaces and this spaces assimilate us.
There are moments which we collect in our memory as a reminiscences, but there are moments which we wish to catch as a picture, save them to leave a trace, to mark the territory, get acquainted as animals do. So do I. I grab my camera and I take pictures of environment, Lile, people, their customs to preserve and share my experiences with others.
Pictures in this project show how people use and spend time in public spaces in different regions of Georgia. The project is the analysis of not only the spatial development of amusement and touristic spaces but the usage of these spaces by Georgian and foreign people.
Questions are:
• How cultural mix is reflected in the spontaneous development of spaces?
• How these spaces can be used by people?
• What is the influence of this environment on people: on physical and mental development of children, elderly and youth?
• What are the characteristics of spontaneous "illegal" occupation of public spaces?
• Where by who and how the border line is drawn between private and public spaces?
• Is this the chaos of development of public spaces? or in contrary the customs to be accustomed?
The photo project rises up this questions in front of Georgian and international society. At the same time is tries to conserve this custom as a cultural heritage which transforms, changes, fades and disappears throughout the time.
Such photo project becomes especially important in today's global political background for rising awareness about the county. Especially when several leading western publications name Georgia as a leading touristic country.
The aim of the photo project is to introduce Georgia to the international spectators as it is important for global recognition and preservation of country's culture.
