" There is a story they tell of two dogs.
Both dogs, at separate times, walk into the same room. One comes out wagging his tail while the other comes out growling.
A woman watching this goes into the room to see what could possibly make one dog so happy and the other so mad. To her surprise she finds a room filled with mirrors.
The happy dog found a thousand happy dogs looking back at him while the angry dog saw only angry dogs growling back at him.
What you see in the world around you is a reflection of who you are.”

The project “5#” is an exercise in the direction of a new personal "positive outlook".
I decided to carry out the entire project in an area that for me it had nothing new to reveal: the district number 5 of Florence, a quite small city area called Rifredi, where I moved to live in four years ago. It represented for me, one of the most trivial and uninteresting places that I knew. This district was for me the archetype of the suburban area, developed upon the Italian economical growth of the sixties.
It seemed to me a place without a heart, dispersive, anonymous and a little bit sad.
But everything depends on the way we see it.
I decided to try to look upon this district with new eyes, without prejudices and try to find the beauty and harmony.
This series of photographs are fragments that tell of my new observations.
