Viacrucis does not intend to be a doctrinal manifesto of any religious beliefs, but a reinterpretation of the traditional narrative of this Christian practice to reflect about the sufferings, contradictions and fate of modern human beings on urban spaces.
Keeping exclusively the symbol of the cross -to allow the viewer to find some references to the original story on which support his reading-, but removing any literal reference to Christian imagery, the series lead us through the drama of lifeless and abandoned spaces, scratches and paintings on the walls of the urban landscape, decayed and demolished buildings towards the realm of the shadow and the death. As in the original narrative, the story is growing on tension through each of the fourteen stations, which literally counterpart the traditional viacrucis, leading the viewer to a point of despair and desolation.. An additional station, when everything is over, offers a kind of relief and final hope.
