Phantoms and Facades is a collection of photographic images made while traveling in Turkey, Mexico and the United States. They are photographs of architecture, interiors and natural surroundings. The thread of similar patterns, color schemes and domestic objects fuse these different locations. The spirit of former lives permeates the settings, while motifs and textures give rise to false impressions. I use geometry, color and light to emphasize how the markings of life and environments stain each other. My goal is to fabricate a cohesive atmosphere from independent visual fragments of the world.
