Gathering Images

I have always been fascinated form noir films, their subjects, the low key lights and distortions, the beautiful and dangerous femmes fatales and for having introduced the twisted psychology of the main characters. For this reason, in my work I try to recreate the style, feeling and colours of this specific genre that changed the cinema style. My pictures are a collection of noir moments, the subjects are mainly women which faces are hidden or blurred. The subjects are captured in low keys light and with a wide angle lens in order to increase the mystery and the distortion of the pictures. Just like in the old noir films the protagonist/observer was tricked form his sight (this was usually due to an unstable psychology, or to mysterious and evil women who hamper his research of the truth), my work tries not to be easily decoded from the viewers to recreate the feeling of being lost in front of an image, a feeling that, from my point of view, still affects contemporary society.
