The main subject of this project is the equilibrium that can be found in nature. However, I approached this theme with a critical attitude. What I have been studying since I switched from an omnivore to a vegan diet is that intensive farmings are the main cause of deforestation. Moreover, as well as being one of the main greenhouse effect causes, it also provokes the extinction of different animal species.
The work by the scientist T. Colin Campbell, namely “The China Study” and the book “The case for animal rights” by Tom Regan has helped me a lot gaining a clear understanding of what we, as humans, need to change if we want to preserve our natural landscape.
On the whole, the project aims to critically comment on the contemporary state of our natural landscape.
Through depicting trees that are either broken, dead or bare of leafs, my images suggest melancholy and solemn viewpoint.
