One afternoon amidst the crowded, panicky rush of Union Station in Washington, D.C. Human kind's ability to separate from each other even under the most difficult conditions is illustrated in these few images. From a little girl seemingly traveling alone, to a homeless man seeking shelter next to one of the station's massive stone columns, or even a pigeon who seems to be mystified that no one bothers him, few things can connect us in any meaningful way, no matter how brief. In this way, the railway station is like a mirror reflecting the world existing beyond the station's granite walls, a world where each individual has his or her own virtual wall already constructed, allowing very few to penetrate its defenses.
