IN VISIBLE

The photographs are portraits of people with vision related conditions in Nepal. Like in many developing nations, curable blindness and visual impairment remains significantly high in Nepal. The project is an initiative to raise consciousness on perceptual awareness of sight and touch through the use of blur and braille on the images. In a cognitive process, to bridge gap between the visually impaired and people with sight, the use of blur on the photographs limits visual interpretation thereby breaking the aesthetics of the image. Similarly there is a blur in the braille, as the braille breaks on the black while maintaining its form on the white. The rupturing of braille also provides a tactile description of the image through reference of color for the visually impaired. The texts in braille are words used in the Universal Declaration of Human Right.
