Washing the church

In a traditional procession catholic in small town in Bahia State, Brazil, descendants of slaves brought from Africa to Brazil in the colonial era participate in the ceremony following their ancestors' religion. They walk the town in a procession carrying brooms, buckets, flowers and perfumes that they will use to wash the church at the end of the procession. Their clothes, turbans and colors of their necklaces have meanings and indicate their connection to each protector saint.
