Danielle East works with and is inspired by the process of photography; experimenting and using the qualities of different processes and cameras to create an image. The subject of her work tends to be her immediate environment and places visited on a day to day basis.
Photographing brief moments or taking a simple subject, process or object and creating an image that isn’t always easy to recognise and what has been photographed is left to viewer to interpret.
The process of Double Exposure is her most practised process - shooting one reel of film, rewinding it and taking another set of images on top is just as important in defining how the image turns out; being over exposed in parts, vignettes created by light leaks in a camera or how crisp the focus is… or isn’t.
