This is a street photography project about my two favorite cities, Paris and New York which I feel share a common soul. They also seem to draw me in, in different ways, but none the less in a more powerful sense than other cities that I've visited or lived in. I'm originally from the U.S., Washington D.C., and have been living in Paris for 13 years. This series is not meant to tell a story but rather to offer a treasure hunt of sorts. It is up to the viewer to make sense of the photos, or perhaps not understand them. Thus, I did not intentionally give the photos titles or descriptions. At first the images seem straightforward , but then draw the viewer in, posing questions and offering subtle juxtapositions. I chose to photograph in color for three main reasons. I prefer color. We see the world in color. Since the 1930s and 40s we have not seen a lot of color street photos taken in Paris. Paris can also be seen in deep, rich, bold colors. I would like to publish a first book in the near future of this work. I would also like to exhibit the work, most likely using archival ink jet prints on semi mat paper. I have been working on this project for 15 years.
