This is not about you, Mr. President. This is about people falling for something or somebody.
I saw you campaigning in the Palazzo with its goldish yellow walls. I watched your supporters hoping for a better future. I was worried. How does it feel to reside in a golden tower? I slept in your hotel that night. You won. Vegas, a place where illusions and dreams are sold every night, hosting the greatest illusionist of our time. A city that is debunked by the rising sun every morning, revealing its ugly face.
Today, people are able to create their own image through social media. Did we get used to those little lies, that present us, like we want to be seen? Why do we not question self-staging anymore? Can documentary, and especially street photography, create candid photos that look behind the facade? I do not want to get blinded by what I get presented.
With my series of photos I intend to address the illusive aspect of Vegas and of the time, when these photos were shot. It is my personal document of the seduction of the traveller, the viewer and the voter. Hopefully, that will help me to overcome this strange experience.
The Golden Age has just begun...
