OF IDENTITY

My work is a statement of my philosophy of feelings and thoughts – outside the academic influence of photography (as I am a self-taught photographer), without which (academic teaching) on the other hand, I could not live without. The dichotomy, the black and the white, the wild and the tame is a constant of my work. When I do portraiture people, it can take hours and hours, until they will forget me, or we become so symbiotic that it feels like the most natural thing to do. The essence, the drama, the vulnerability, the passion of the humans move my photographs. When somebody lets someone shoot them with the camera, that very moment, that person is taking a highly moral decision. It’s intriguing, sometimes even breathtaking to capture this „moral decision“ one’s instinct, ego, or prude, or vanity – or however we want to call it – chooses to show while being shot.
