OBLIVION

“Oblivion” is a project composed of portraits of teenagers dressed up as their favorite fictional characters in comic fairs. As it happens in other of my works, this project has allowed me to elaborate on the idea of construction of meaning and on the impact time has on meaning.  The circumstance that the portrayed subjects are in their teenage years stresses the idea of possibility and connects with my interest as photographer in presenting the photographic image as a tool for constructing meaning. I think that this work also questions the idea of verisimilitude. Is verisimilitude over rated? Is it needed? Is it a condition for happiness? Is it true? Is it necessary if anything you can build, whether real or fictional, is eventually going to disappear?
