I visited an abandoned sugar beet factory in Salvatore, Brazil. The people living there are essentially homeless and live in great poverty. However people are people and children are still children and though I was very sad about the conditions in which these people lived, I was overwhelmed by their friendliness and pride in showing us their circumstances and how they were making the best of it. The children, though often obviously troubled reached out the most.
